Our Ingredients

Each Aetheia candle and wax melt is crafted using:

  • Premium plant-based wax 
  • Cotton wicks
  • 100% pure essential oils
  • No paraffin
  • No synthetic fragrance oils
  • No phthalates
  • No unnecessary stabilisers or fillers

Our essential oil blends include botanicals such as Bergamot, Neroli, Frankincense, Cedarwood, Lavender, Rosemary, Ylang Ylang, Sweet Orange, Grapefruit, Peppermint, Lemon, Eucalyptus, Basil, Clary Sage and Patchouli.

Because we use pure, concentrated essential oils, our fragrances are naturally complex and potent — free from synthetic masking agents.

Fragrance Concentrations

To ensure optimal scent performance while maintaining responsible formulation:

  • Wax melts contain a 10% essential oil blend
  • Candles contain an 8% essential oil blend

Each blend is carefully balanced for both performance and safety.

Naturally Occurring Allergens

Essential oils are highly concentrated botanical extracts and naturally contain fragrance allergens such as:

Limonene
Linalool
Geraniol
Citral
Linalyl acetate
Alpha-Pinene
Beta-Pinene
Caryophyllene
Eugenol
Benzyl benzoate
Benzyl salicylate
Menthol

These compounds occur naturally in plant materials and are not added synthetically.

Some individuals may experience skin sensitivity to these naturally occurring components.

UK CLP Compliance

Although our products are natural, essential oils are chemically complex and may carry hazard classifications in concentrated form.

In accordance with the UK Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation (UK CLP), certain Aetheia blends are classified as:

  • Skin Sensitiser Category 1
  • Hazardous to the Aquatic Environment (Chronic)

This classification is due to naturally occurring essential oil constituents such as limonene, pinene and other terpenes.

Relevant Hazard Statements

  • H317 – May cause an allergic skin reaction
  • H411 – Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects (Some blends may classify as H412 depending on final calculation)

Environmental Responsibility

Many essential oil components are classified as hazardous to aquatic life in concentrated form.

We encourage customers to:

  • Avoid disposing of wax into sinks or drains
  • Dispose of packaging responsibly
  • Follow local waste regulations

Sustainability is not only about ingredients — it extends to responsible end-of-life practices.

Candle & Wax Melt Care

To ensure safe and optimal use:

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended
  • Burn on a heat-resistant surface
  • Keep away from drafts
  • Trim wick to 5mm before each burn
  • Keep away from children and pets
  • Do not ingest
  • Do not pour melted wax into sinks or drains

Our Regulatory Commitment

We comply with:

  • UK CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008
  • REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006
  • IFRA standards for home fragrance use

Finished product classifications are determined using the CLP summation method based on final fragrance concentration.

Where required, appropriate hazard labelling and pictograms are included on packaging.
